Frequently Asked Questions

  1. The NEW PRACTICE VAULT w/ new sessions added daily & archives available 24/7
  2. The entire bank of Jays’s drum lessons in our Drum Lesson Vault.
  3. Our entire bank of Play-Alongs and Performance tracks. New tracks added regularly.
  4. Access to all of the exercises and sheet music that go along with the curriculum.
  5. Access to Jay directly through our Video Feedback section.
  6. Access to participate LIVE or OnDemand to all drum clinics and Master Sessions.

Do I have to know how to play the drums before I can start a membership?

No. With the addition of the drum lesson vault you can come into thedrummersalmanac.com and learn everything from how to hold the sticks to the most advanced grooves and everything in between.

However, no online instruction will ever replace the quality of one and one time with a great drum teacher. That's why Jay recommends you take one on one lessons with a knowledgeable instructor in conjunction with this site as a supplement to those lessons for the best results.

What kind of results can I expect?

Thedrummersalmanac.com will not make you better just by watching the videos, passively. It is up to you to log in each day and follow the routines that are put in front of you. If you take action and work with the site consistently, then your results will be extraordinary. If you sit on your butt and don't take action… well, then no website will help you get better.

One thing I will say… this site does a great job of making that "tedious practice that everyone needs to do, but avoids doing like the plague," not only doable, but actually enjoyable! …And that's the key to success on the drums.

What styles of drumming do you teach in your lessons?

We go through all styles at all levels; Rock, Funk, Latin, Jazz, Metal, Pop etc… as well as all styles of technical learning such as: Military style drumming, Moeller Style, Rhythm development, Touch, Time development, Reading etc… The scope of this website hits every aspect of learning drums as developed by Jay Fenichel.

Do I have access to the LIVE broadcast of the daily classes?

Initially all sessions were recorded "LIVE and on the fly." We found it difficult to accommodate everyones schedule and decided to reorganize all of that content into a 24/7 all access database. However we do intend to bring these LIVE session back in the future.

What internet speed is required to use the TDA members area?

We would recommend a download speed of at least 5-7 Mbps to watch our lesson in HD without pausing or interruption. Use a website like http://speakeasy.net/speedtest/ to check your download speed.

Can the instructor see me when I am taking the lesson?

The TDA Silver Membership does not currently include LIVE lessons. However, the Platinum and Inner-circle Levels do offer one-on-one interaction between Jay and the members. The Silver Membership will focus more on assigning you a specific curriculum based on your goals as a drummer, then leave it to you to practice with the site. We do offer tons of support should you need it. However, if you would like to take a more 'hands on' approach and interact one-on-one with Jay over the internet, check out the Platinum and Inner-Circle Levels: click here for more information.

How do get a specific curriculum to follow based on my goals as a drummer?

You would reach out to us via our "contact us" email form and request an evaluation for curriculum. We will respond by emailing you the criteria to video record your evaluation, then have you submit that video to us via the "Video Feedback" section of the website. Once the evaluation video is received and reviewed by Jay Fenichel, you will be emailed your specific curriculum to follow on thedrummersalmanac.com.

Can I download the sheet music for the video lessons and play-alongs?

Yes. When ever sheet music is called for, there will also be a link to download, save and print the corresponding sheet music.

Is there any contract with thedrummersalmanac.com?

Once a membership is cancelled you will have continued access through the remainder of the cycle in which you paid for. After that, no further billing will occur. How does the 90-day money back guarantee work?

We are so confident that you will get great result and love the workflow on the site that we will give you a full refund within the first 90 days of joining the site, if you are unhappy with your results in any way.
